"I have a plan," started out as being a very adorable phrase from Violet until she changed the plan....
There is an ice cream shop/outdoor diner with a playground called Mr. Bill's that we have to pass by to go anywhere North of our house, meaning to get to the grandparents, grocery store, post office, day care etc.
My favorite ice cream shop is Rob and Deb's which makes THE BEST soft ice cream in a million different flavors, but no playground and we don't pass by it ever.
One Day Vi said, "I have a plan, one time we go to Mr. Bill's the next Rob and Deb's, then Mr. bill's then Rob and Deb's." I did the parental schpeel about it being great she had a plan to take turns so Mommy could get her favorite and therefore it would make me happy too and blah blah blah.
Well, the day it was my turn to go to Rob and Deb's--Vi cried, pitched a fit, whined, the whole course of Tantrum 101. I decided this would be a great teaching moment and did my parent schpeel again...something about being part of family means we take turns and blah, blah and then reiterated it was HER PLAN! She was quiet.
I could almost hear the little wheels turning in her head, she says, "Mom, I have a new plan. It goes like this, Mr. Bill's, Mr. Bill's, Mr. Bill's...." You can see where she was going...
I decided if there was ever a time to teach her a valuable lesson about being part of a family and taking turns there was never a more delicious lesson!
We went to Rob and Deb's that day.
