The baby was due on 9/15/09, but is late much like his sister was. Violet was a week late according to the obgyn's little gestation wheely diagram thing. Anyways, we are waiting very impatiently for Skip to arrive. Mike decided the baby needed a name while I was pregnant so the name Skippy was his bright idea. I do think the name has made the baby seem more real to Violet. She talks about him all the time and all the things she is going to teach him. She kisses and hugs my belly and says, "Skippy just pinched me!" We are hoping she will be just as affectionate when he is on the outside :) Violet and I had a very brief talk about where Skippy will be coming out of. She seemed to be under the impression he would come out of my mouth-only slightly less disturbing than the truth. This conversation only makes me realize we are going to have the sex talk some day. Maybe I will leave it to the Human Sexuality Professor (Mike), he has power points and everything!
Vi had a big change this last week. She no longer is at Daycare Lori's which she has been at since she was 6 weeks old :( It was a bittersweet decision. She is now at a Day Care Center that is more of a school-type setting. Our theory being we wanted her to be in a home-based day care while she was baby to have a Mom/home loving environment and then more of a preschool setting to prep her for school in 2 years. I miss Lori already and it was very hard for me to make the transition. Luckily, 3 yr olds aren't wired to be very sentimental so she took the change in stride.
Vi is also embracing being a 3 1/2 year old. Her imagination is fascinating to watch. Lately, she is either a dog or a horse. Thanks to her grandparent's 3 dogs and of course our dog. And the horse is because of Aunt Melanie--- all horses are now named Magic. Vi spends a lot of time crawling.
She is also great at expressing her emotions, often arms crossed, brows furrowed, followed by, "I am mad and I am running away!" The sad emotions are the worst (when they are real ones). Mike was leaving for softball one night and she started to cry, the lip curled out and everything. She was truly upset he was leaving her, I almost started crying too.
She is testing out words like, stupid, dumb, and shut-up, swear words for 3 year olds. Usually pointing out when someone else says it. The funniest is when I tell her no and she does not approve. She goes into another room and channels Ralphie's father from a Christmas Story, angrily mumbling words, with the word stupid being the only distinguishable one! This is hilarious to listen to!
Okay, back to impatiently waiting for Skip.....
