Friends & Family

Friends & Family came to celebrate the life of Violet, Kolton, Camden, Jefferey, Joshua, Trenton, Eliza Jane, and Frannie's Grandpa Harry.  The support of family & friends in times like these is invaluable.  Since, I have this blog and it is the photographic story of my children's lives (for the most part), I have a great opportunity to preserve all sorts of great memories & not so great memories in photos, videos and with my words (as sarcastic as they might be).
My favorite story about Harry & if it is a story about Harry it is a story about Pat as well.  I can probably count on one hand the times I saw the 2 of them apart in the last 15 years I have known them!
It is a simple funny story, not a life lesson moment or some grand gesture, but a memory that every time I think of it makes me smile and laugh even before I open my mouth to tell it.  I guess you could define them as Grandparents with this little story (if you use a little creative license) .  One could say-They have the best intentions, they love to laugh, and always keep it clean!
I am hoping my retelling does it justice, but it may end up being more like,"you had to be there......."

I was very pregnant with Violet riding in the back of their Honda mini-van. Mike was most likely at our dump/home attempting to make it habitable. We were living with P&H at the time.  Pat and Harry decided to go through the automated car wash which seemed harmless enough.  I am sure the van must have had a speck of dirt on it somewhere (Harry was not a fan of a dirty car).  Harry pays the kids at the start of the wash.  The van is being pulled into the car wash on the belt thingy and Pat says to Harry,"we should turn the side-view mirrors in." I do remember thinking-WHAT ARE THEY DOING??!!Did they miss the most important lesson on how to stay dry when going through a car wash!!?  Both of them open their windows and attempt to turn the mirrors in.  Which by the way was completely unnecessary. Pretty much as soon as they had the windows open. Two little water squirters take aim and blast them both in their faces!  They were frantically pushing the buttons to roll up the windows as the water is continuing to squirt them squarely in their faces!  It was not rare that I laughed with my in-laws, but this was the first time I laughed at them so hard, my uterus hurt!  They too were both in stitches belly-laughing. Needless to say the image of them getting sprayed in the face, soaking wet, wiping off their glasses, and laughing hysterically is forever seared in my brain.  Hopefully, you will never go to a car wash again & not laugh a little.:)
Right back at ya' Aunt Linda!

Everyone took a shift with Camden Harry:)

Garnet & Kolt getting some swings in at the driving range.  Grooming for the PGA can never start to early.

Cam rockn' his shades

Lydia & Vi reading in their "fort." Not a very fort-like activity if you ask me!

Mike & Chandler admiring their sons.  Not their sons, but each ones own son, you get the idea.

Anna wishing she had a third child or wait.... maybe she is smiling cause she doesn't???

Howdy, Vi & Lydia!

GranMary & Papa Al.  Kolt actually spoke directly to them while they visited.  He would not speak to them when we visited them last month.  I am not attempting to figure it out.

It doesn't look like he is sleeping, even though his brow is furrowed he is asleep!

Papa Al balancing one heavy chunky-monkey.

Kissing cousins.....

.......whether you want to or not!

My favorite photo of Vi with her Grandpa Harry at Lynley and Kamal's wedding.  Vi was 2 & 1/2. They are sitting under the bar at the reception.
