Once December hits, the "Santa threat" is fair game as far as I am concerned. I have only used it a few times and it stopped the whining so I am not above using again while I still can!
Vi's theory on how Santa keeps tabs on us.....
She was sitting at the kitchen table painting. I was standing at the sink doing dishes (Iam hoping for a maid under the Xmas tree). She says, " Mom, I know how Santa knows if we are being naughty or not."
I say, " Really! How?"
She says, " when the mailman brings the mail. He peeks in our windows and sees if we are being naughty or nice then he writes it on a postcard and sends it to Santa."
I said, " what about Santa's magic snowball?"
Vi shakes her head, " nope that is not how."
I am kind of surprised she came up with this on her own so I say, "how do you know that the mailman works for Santa?"
Vi simply says, " I saw it on Santa Claus is Coming to Town."
The narrator on in the classic cartoon is a mailman (Fred Astaire) so I am assuming that's how she made the connection??
Violet is soooo excited for Santa this year, BUT she also thought being Jewish might be a good option. We were talking about all the holidays and she asked me about Hanukkah. I told about lighting the menorah & eight days of gifts (since my religious knowledge is VERY limited this is about all I could tell her without googling it). She immediately said, "I want to be Jewish!" She even renamed one of her stuffed animals Hanukkah. Needless to say we are not converting any time soon.
