The pacifer went postal

Follow-up to yesterday's binky departure....
Violet was in fact the daughter I gave birth too and not a pod as I thought might be the case. As evidenced by her bed time request, she says, "Can I have my PINK binky?" We of course, sent the purple one packing not the pink. We use the pink binky when traveling so its usually in the car or packed in a bag. Violet always on her toes! Mike and I looked at each other blankly as we had not expected her to find the lupole........uhhhhhhhh, I quickly say, "we sent the pink binky to babyChloe, Aunty Jodi's baby." QUICK---redirect with picking a bed time story---- so far so good. We read the stories and she asks for the pink binky again and I stick to my story.

I often will lay down with her for a few minutes after stories and then without fail when I start to leave the room she will ask me something about Christmas! I have no idea, but it happens every nap and bed time! Tonight my guilt is telling me stay put until she is asleep. She just rocked and rolled for about 45 minutes and then when I thought she was asleep I got up to leave. Sure enough she is not asleep and asks me, when does Christmas come??? I kiss her sweet little head and leave the room and she slept all night with no issues.

I kind of feel like this moment is a "rite of passage." Just one less baby thing as she grows into a real little person....sigh'

Just a side note: I did not come up with the mailing binky idea. Some brilliant underpaid author of a $1 book we bought at Target deserves the credit. No doubt a mother who wanted the guilt and blame to lay on mailman and not her----love it. This scapegoat has endless possiblities....
